Benazir charges Sharief with inaction over Indian blasts

Pakistani Opposition leader Benazir Bhutto today said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief had failed to safeguard Pakistan's security in the face of India's nuclear tests and should resign.

If Pakistan did not respond to the Indian tests, India would attack Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, she told reporters at Karachi airport on return from a trip abroad.

She said Sharief had taken neither the political leaders nor the people into confidence on how he proposed to deal with the dangers posed by a nuclearised India.

Bhutto drove straight from the airport to a special court to answer charges that as prime minister she employed 1,200 supporters illegally in the state-owned Pakistan International Airlines.

The judge, who had issued fresh warrants of arrest for her for not turning at the appointed time, was absent. But she was not arrested.
