It was 'Operation Shakti' on Budh Purnima

'Shakti' was the code name given to the nuclear tests conducted by India on May 11.

This was revealed in a television show, Janata ki Adalat by Brajesh Mishra, principal secretary to the prime minister.

Mishra disclosed he was one of the very few people who shared the timing of the nuclear tests with the prime minister.

He refuted media speculation that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh officials were aware of the decision to conduct the nuclear tests. ''It is merely a coincidence that the RSS weekly Organiser came out with an issue on this subject the day the tests were conducted,'' he added.

Another coincidence was that the nuclear tests conducted in 1974 were also carried out on Budh Purnima, Mishra said, adding, ''We had not realised this while deciding the date.''
