Britain recalls envoy

Britain, which earlier opposed sanctions against India following the nuclear tests, may ''sign up to a package of internationally agreed measures against India."

Britain has also recalled its High Commissioner in Delhi, Sir David Gore-Booth.

According to The Times, London, Britain will not unilaterally impose sanctions against New Delhi.

Britain's volte face comes a day before the G-8 summit of the world's leading industrial powers at Birmingham, where India's nuclear sanctions are likely to dominate the proceedings.
