Patel to expand cabinetKarnataka Chief Minister J H Patel said Monday that he would restructure his cabinet immediately after the budget session of the state legislature, scheduled to end on May 15. He, however, declined to say anything on the strength of the restructured cabinet, except that all new districts would be represented. Patel welcomed Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's statement in Parliament on framing a national water policy. He said the Janata Dal candidate for the Rajya Sabha would be decided on in the next two days. A by-election is necessitated to the upper House now to fill the vacancy created by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda's election to the Lok Sabha. UNI
