BJP betrayed Ram, will not last long: Laloo
Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav today urged the government to focus its attention on recovering thousands of kilometers of area forcefully occupied by China in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Bihar regiment would be the first to march to recover the area if the government took a positive step in that direction, he said, participating in the resumed debate on the confidence motion of the Vajpayee government.
The former chief minister had a dig at the Marxists for
banning hand-pulled rickshaws in Calcutta, thus depriving thousands of Biharis of their daily bread. ''Calcutta is a metropolis and every one looks upon that city to earn a honourable living by taking up odd jobs. Therefore, such opportunities should not be deprived,'' he maintained.
Laloo Yadav also alleged that he was being falsely implicated in the fodder scam. ''The greatness is that when the Central Bureau of Investigation touches (Lal Kishinchand) Advani, he becomes the home minister. Similarly, Yashwant Sinha also became a minister after being touched by the CBI,'' he remarked.
Claiming that 'fundamentalists and feudals' had voted the BJP to
power, Laloo Yadav said the saffron party had 'betrayed' Lord Ram after coming to power by abandoning the construction of a temple at Ayodhya. Therefore, he felt that the present combination of the BJP and its allies would not last long.
