President announces national media policyIndia will evolve a national media policy to integrate the advances in visual, audio and print media, and bring about a cohesiveness of purpose. President K R Narayanan, in his address to the joint sitting of Parliament in the Central Hall, said the main aim of such a policy was to devise plans ''keeping in view our societal needs and cultural values.'' A Right to Information Law will also be put in place to ensure transparency and integrity in decision-making without compromising national security. For this, he said the Official Secrets Act will be reviewed. UNI
