Bommai, Oscar and Naidu will make it to RS from KarnatakaUnion Minister S R Bommai, Congress general secretary Oscar Fernandes and Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary M Venkaiah Naidu are likely to be elected unopposed as only four candidates have filed their nomination papers for the biennial election to the Rajya Sabha from the Karnataka assembly, as filing of papers drew to a close today. Bommai and Oscar Fernandes filed their papers today, along with advocate H K Javare Gowda of the Janata Dal, considered a confidante of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda. The fourth aspirant, Venkaiah Naidu, had submitted his papers yesterday. Their election has become a formality since there are only four vacancies from the state, and it is expected to be announced by returning officer Yakub Sharief on March 20, the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
