Venkaiah Naidu files papers for Rajya SabhaBharatiya Janata Party general secretary Venkaiah Naidu on Monday filed nomination papers for the biennial election to the Rajya Sabha from the Karnataka assembly. Naidu filed two sets of papers. State BJP president B S Yediyurappa and Dr Jeevaraj Alva, president of the BJP's ally, the Lok Shakti, were present on the occasion. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun M Kharge said Congress general secretary Oscar Fernandes would be the party's candidate for one of the four seats to be filled from the state assembly. The Janata Dal is yet to decide on its two candidates. Tuesday is the last date for filing of nominations. An election, if necessary, would be held on March 27. UNI
