UF will not abstain during trust vote, says Deve Gowda
United Front chairman and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda today ruled out the Front supporting a Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government during the confidence vote.
He said the UF steering committee would decide the future course of action.
Speaking to UNI from Bangalore, Deve Gowda described as "baseless, imaginary and intending to harm the interests of the United Front", the press reports that he might be among the UF leaders to abstain from voting.
The reports had claimed that Prime Minister I K Gujral, Railway Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and Deve Gowda might abstain during the confidence vote.
President K R Narayanan had, on Sunday, appointed BJP leader A B Vajpayee as prime minister and asked him to secure a vote of confidence within 10 days of assuming charge on March 19.
