Ex-ministers will return to JD if Gowda is expelledFormer Karnataka minister R V Deshpande, who resigned from the J H Patel ministry in Karnataka on Tuesday along with two other ministers, says they will reconsider their decision if Patel expelled former prime minister H D Deve Gowda from the Janata Dal. Deshpande alleged that the proposed vote of confidence sought by the Janata Dal government on January 27 was a gameplan hatched by Deve Gowda and state JD president B L Shankar to throw out the government. Describing the move as a panic reaction on the government's part, he said they had no complaints against Patel nor had they levelled charges against him. Deshpande alleged that Deve Gowda was out to finish the party. Earlier attempts by Deve Gowda to dislodge the government could not succeed because of their presence in the ministry, he claimed. He reiterated that those legislators, who had joined the Rashtriya Navnirman Vedike, were still in the Janata Dal and did not want to dislodge the Patel government. |
