Bangarappa ties up with BSPFormer chief minister S Bangarappa's Karnataka Vikas Party will contest the Lok Sabha election in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party. Bangarappa said the BSP would put up candidates in Bidar, Gulbarga and Kanakapura constituencies. He did not rule out allocation of some more constituencies to the BSP. He also announced the first list of 12 candidates; he will seek re-election from Shimoga. He said his party was willing to have a seat adjustment with the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha if the farmers's organisation so wished. The party had decided to form a fourth front and contest the election as efforts to have an electoral understanding with the ruling Janata Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party did not fructify, he said. Bangarappa said BSP chief Kanshi Ram and he would jointly launch their election campaign at a public meeting in Bangalore on January 27. He said his party would also contest the by-election to the Kottur and Dharwad rural assembly seats, leaving the third -- Anekal -- to the BSP. The Election Commission had allotted the symbol of an irrigation pumpset to his party, he said. |
