Shatru's wife may contest from PatnaA Special CorrespondentFilm star and Rajya Sabha member Shatrughan Sinha's wife Poonam may contest the general election from Patna on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. The state BJP election committee has already cleared her name, following a directive from the party's national leadership. Though the film star refused to comment on whether Poonam would contest the election, sources said she is certain to get the ticket. Sources close to Sinha, however, told Rediff On The NeT that the star has advised her against taking the plunge. The party leadership is keen to reward Sinha for the good work that he has put in. Moreover, Poonam -- a Sindhi -- is considered close to BJP president Lal Kishinchand Advani. Sources said the star was himself considered for the seat -- among others like former Congress MP C P Thakur, physician Dr S N Arya, former BJP MP Shailender Nath Srivastava and party counsel in the fodder scam case, Ravi Shankar Prasad -- but finally decided that his 'crowd-pulling' abilities should be used all over the country, not just in Bihar. |
