UF faces rough weather due to SP-JD tussleSerious differences have surfaced in the United Front in Bihar, with two of its major constituents -- the Samajwadi Party and the Janata Dal -- taking a tough stand on the issue of seat-sharing for the general election. Bihar Samajwadi Party chief Rajesh Ranjan 'Pappu' Yadav told the media on Friday that the party would neither take any step to weaken the United Front nor yield to any pressure mounted by the state Janata Dal. Commenting on the statements of several state JD leaders that they would not spare any seat for the SP in Bihar, Yadav said there was no compulsion for the SP to go with the JD in the state as it was competent to fight the election with the Left parties. He said the party's state parliamentary committee had already finalised 11 candidates and proposed to select 24 others by January 15. Yadav said the party had completed talks with the newly formed Bihar Jan Congress of Jagannath Mishra and the Left parties in the state. UNI |
