RSS files criminal complaint against Kesri

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Wednesday filed a criminal complaint against Congress president Sitaram Kesri for his allegation that the RSS was behind Saturday's serial blasts in Coimbatore.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Prem Kumar fixed February 24 for the recording of a statement in the complaint which alleged that Kesri had intentionally given the false statement with the motive of lowering the dignity and credibility of the RSS as an organisation.

Satya Naraian Bansal, president of the Delhi unit of the RSS, filed his complaint under Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code, urging the court to take cognisance of the complaint and punish Kesri for his February 15 statement.

According to the complaint, Kesri had no reason or justification whatsoever in issuing such a defamatory statement.

The complainant has arrayed as respondents, the editors and publishers of The Times of Indiaand Navbharat Times for carrying Kesri's derogatory statement in their respective newspapers.
