Sugar 'n' spice

Sukanya Verma

Beauty queens storming the industry is nothing new. From Zeenat Aman to Aishwarya Rai, the acting bug has bitten everyone bigtime.Pyaasa

Yet another former Miss World Yukta Mookhey is all set to try her luck at tinsel town in A Muthu's (Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa)Pyaasa co-starring Aftab Shivdasani and model Zulfi Sayed.

Considering Pyaasa marks an international pageant winner's debut, the music by Sanjeev-Darshan is nowhere close to the mark. The album comprises of nine mediocre tracks.

Milti hai, jhukti hai is clearly reminiscent of Hum tere bin kahin reh nahi pate (Sadak). This decent track in the voices of Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan, has been scored by Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar Daboo Malik.

Yet another composer duo Nikhil-Vinay dish out the insipid Milte milte sanam. An indifferent sounding Udit Narayan doesn’t help matters either.

Up next, is the upbeat Na jane mera kya hoga. Credit goes to to Sonu Nigam's enthusiastic fervor that does wonder for this for this otherwise average ditty.

Sunidhi Chauhan and Abhijeet try hard to stir sensuous notes with Tere pyar ka chhaya nasha. Alas, the effort goes vain.

Albeit, the same track is repeated again with the lively Adnan Sami replacing Abhijeet to good effect.

Mimic cum singer Sudesh Bhosle, (best known as Big B's handy voice) and Narendra Bedi caters to front benches with the inane Usko pata hai.

Pyaasa Aankhon mein leke pyar starts off like another dandiya number Dholi taro dhol baaje (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam). That’s where the similarity ends. Although Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Karsan Sargathiya give it their best shot, lyrics like 'C'mon lets play dandiya' are a complete put off.

Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik depress with the dull Is mohabbat ke siva. This uninspiring track has strains lifted from the crass Angna main baba (Aankhen). Fast forward please. Ditto for Soni roop di by Sardool Sikander.

To sum the album in one word -- unsatisfactory. Plus, it's completely devoid of any repeat value.
