Hong Kong hits NSE, Nifty sheds 18.2 pointsThe record fall in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange had its echo in India, with the Nifty registering a sharp drop of 18.20 points. The NSE-50 opened at 1169.40, and immediately begin to dip, hitting a low of 1140.80. However, buying support finally saw the Nifty close at 1151.65, below Wednesday's close of 1151.65. The Midcap Index also lost 19.25 points, to close at 1284.80. Trading volume remained lacklustre, at Rs 18.7 billion only. Among the stocks which lost heavily were Asian Paints, Mahindra and Mahindra and Tata Tea.
