NSE set to resume from October 9

Trading on the National Stock Exchange in Bombay will commence from Thursday, October 9, 1997, after a gap of seven days and four trading days days.

The exchange has shifted the maximum number of Very Small Aperture Terminals to the INSAT-2A satellite from INSAT-2D, which was abandoned after a technical snag, and trading through all its 780 VSATs spread over 66 cities will start as usual from Thursday, an NSE source said.

The exchange could not conduct trading from October 3, due to complete loss of connectivity with INSAT 2A following the failure of the indigenously developed satellite. October 1 was its last trading day, and October 2 was a holiday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Trading took place on the NSE for settlement number 40. The NSE authorities already had announced on Tuesday that trades executed on October 1 would be clubbed with the next settlement, which starts from Thursday.
