Nifty up marginallyA mixed trend was witnessed in the National Stock Exchange today as share prices fluctuated at both selling and buying boots. The NSE-50 Index opened at 1022.30 points, touched day's high of 1028.50 points, low of 1024.55 points and closed at 1024.95 points showing a net gain of 02.55 points as against its previous close of 1022.40 points. The Midcap Index closed at 1173.50 points over the last trading day's close of 1183.85 points, suffering a loss of 10.35 points. The total turnover was Rs 10.8 billion, involving 42.5 million shares. Hectic trading was led by ITC with highest turnover of Rs 4.4 billion, followed by Reliance Rs 1.4 billion, SBI-N 1.3 billion, Tata Tea Rs 918.2 million, TELCO Rs 628.6 million, Castrol Rs 306.2, ACC Rs 209.1 million, MTNL Rs 186.8 million, TISCO Rs 120.4 million, Hind Lever Rs 103.1 million, Ponds Rs 83.7 million, Hero Honda Rs 71.1 million, L&T Rs 69.2 million, Satyam Comp Rs 64 million, BHEL Rs 60.3 million, LML Rs 54.8 million, BSES Rs 46.6 million, Rel Petro Rs 43.7 million, Bajaj Auto Rs 36.5 million, Hindalco Rs 33.1 million, ICICI Rs 28.3 million, Ranbaxy Rs 28.1 million, IPCL Rs 25.5 million, Colgate Rs 24.6 million and VSNL Rs 23.3 crore.
