Voicing concern on raging infation, the Telugu Desam Party has asked the United Progressive Alliance government to quit or control the spiralling prices of essential commodities.
"Control prices or else quit," said the TDP Politburo member Y Yerran Naidu in a press conference on Tuesday referring to the soaring prices.
He said the central government should convenve National Development CouncilĀ and all state Chief Ministers' conference to discuss the price rise issue.
The TDP leader said the Congress-led government in Andhra Pradesh has failed on all fronts. He flayed the government for rampant corruption in the state saying that all the welfare schemes initiated by it were aimed to facilitate Congress workers only.
Naidu said that Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which had fought the 2004 elections together, betrayed the people of Telangana after coming to power.
On possible electoral alliances with the CPM, he said TDP would take a decision on it in its Politburo meeting scheduled to be held on May 1 at Piduguralla in Guntur district.
Referring to two-kg rice scheme of the state government, TDP leader said it was a publicity stunt in the backdrop of ensuing elections.
