Market@February 28: Day's report

Euphoria prevailed on this Budget day. Like any other Budget, the market was extremely volatile. At the end, software stocks managed to show an extremely strong close. Himachal, Global and Silverline hit the 16 per cent upper circuit.

Infosys, Satyam, Dig Equipment, DSQ Software and Pentamedia, also gained more than 11 per cent each. Other tech stocks also showed a smart recovery.

Among the old economy counters, HLL, ICICI, SBI, Tata Tea, TVS Suzuki, Grasim, M&M, Nestle, Hero Honda, ICICI, and BPCL showed impressive gains. The overall trading volume significantly high.

Sensex up 177 points at 4247. Nifty up 61 points at 1356.
