Market@September 18: Day's report

It was a black monday for the market. The market opened with a lower gap and the sentiment remained bearish throughout the day. Software stocks dipped sharply. Satyam, Wipro, Silvelrine, Zee Tele, Global Tele and Infosys were major losers. Satyam dipped more than 9 per cent.

In the non-software segment Reliance, MTNL, L&T and ACC reported sharp fall. HLL, ITC, SBI and Ranbaxy also showed a negative close. MTNL touched a 7-year low of Rs 124.

Sensex down 196 points at 4366, Nifty down 63 points at 1354.
