Market@October 11: Day's report

It was the software stocks turn on Wednesday, nearly all the software stocks came under strong selling pressure pushing the market to a 17 month.

After a weak open, values dipped further. With a fall of more than 11 per cent each Satyam and Himachal were the major losers. Infosys, SSI, DSQ Soft, NIIT, Wipro and Pentamedia also dipped sharply. All these stocks lost more than 5 per cent each.

In the non-software segment, heavyweights like ITC, Reliance and HLL remained in a narrow range. Other stocks remained weak and the fall in them were not significant.

Sensex down 107 points at 3838, Nifty down 36 points at 1203.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Satyam, Himachal, Vikas WSP, HCL Tech, Shyam Tele, DSQ Bio, Usha Beltron, PSI Data, Trigyn, Maars Soft, Sriven Multi.

Losers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
