Market@29 March: Day's report

Barring a few stocks, the software sector remained under selling pressure especially during the second half of the day. Wipro, and Rolta were the strongest counters. Rolta showed a sharp jump in volume and remained at the number 8 in terms of volume. Infosys also remained firm.

However, Reliance, L&T, SBI, and HLL dipped sharply affecting the index. Pharma stocks also came under strong selling pressure.

The overall trading volume was comparatively low on the BSE. Satyam Computers, HFCL, Global Tele, Silverline, Zee Tele topped volume chart contributing more than 48 per cent of the total trading volume.

Sensex dips 56 points at 5100, Nifty down 15 points at 1553.

Stocks at lower circuit
L&T, Sterlite, Dr. Reddy's, HDFC, TV 18, TamilNadu Tele, Vans Info, Classic Bio, Colour Chips, Zicom Electronics, Vimal Oil, Vikas WSP and Gordon Herbs.

Stocks up over 5 per cent
Tata Chemicals, Buash & Lomb, MP Tele, Usha Beltron, Voltas, LIC HF, Tata Finance, Max India, UTI Bank, Peerless Shipping, KEC International, Kajaria Ceramics, Century Enka, VXL Instruments, Avon Organics, Sharp Industries and Kesoram.

Stocks down over 5 per cent
DSQ Software, Pentamedia Graphics, BSES, ACC, HDFC Bank, Hughes Soft, HPCL, Sun Pharma, Advent Computers, Datapro, Adam Comsoft, Knoll Pharma, Ram Info, Appu Industries, Epic Enzymes, PSI Data, Tasty Bite and Aurobindo Pharma.
