Market@8 March: Day's report

The market was extreme volatile today. Infosys opened at the upper circuit, but dipped by more than four per cent later. During mid-session, it sharply recovered, and hit the upper circuit. However, during the last hour, it showed a sharp fall losing a major part of its recovery.

Sensex lost 80 points to 5509. Nifty was down 32 points to 1670.

Other software stocks also reported panic selling as Satyam hit the down circuit. Pivotals too remained extremely weak.

Himachal, Satyam Computer and Infosys topped the volume charts, accounting for nearly 40 per cent of the total trading volume for the day.
