NSE futures trading kicks offIndia's National Stock Exchange commenced trading in futures linked to its 50-share index, the S&P CNX Nifty, on Monday with the first trade transacted in a June 2000 contract at 1461. The index was trading at 1,472 in the underlying cash market. Eight contracts were traded in the first 25 minutes and exchange officials said early trade was only in the June 2000 contract. The June contracts expire on the last Thursday of the month. The Bombay Stock Exchange started trading in Sensex futures on Friday. In early deals on Monday the June 2000 contract was trading at 4,765, while in the underlying cash market the index was at 4,736.54
