Market@June 8: Day's report

For one more day, software stocks remained extremely volatile. The volatility was high in second half. HFCL, Global Tele, Satyam Comp and Digital Computer showed handsome gains.

Meanwhile, old economy stocks remained in great demand. MTNL, L&T, ITC, Telco, ACC, SBI, IPCL, and Bhel recorded impressive gains and helped the sensex. MTNL hit the 12 per cent circuit.

Trading volumes were quite high on both the exchanges. Satyam Comp, HFCL, Global Tele, Zee Tele, and Infosys topped the volume charts accounting for 52 per cent of the total traded volume on the BSE.

Sensex up 123 points at 4728, Nifty gains 33 points at 1463.

HFCL, Satyam Comp, SSI, Digital Equip, L&T, SBI, McDowell, Century, Corp Bank, ABB, BoB, UPL, Rel Petrol, Aftek Info, Cadilla Health, Kesoram, Valiant Com.

Losers: Between 12 per cent and 7.9 per cent
