Market@June 7: Day's report

Volatility at its peak. Trading volumes at a three-month high.

Sensex up 13 points at 4605. Nifty up 4 points at 1426.

Tech stocks like Himachal, Silverline, Infosys, SSI and Pentamedia showed extreme volatility. Software stocks remained firm in the first two hours but weakened in the second half. Few counters like Silverline, Himachal and Pentamedia showed sharp recoveries from their respective lows. While Satyam hit the upper circuit at 12 per cent, SSI hit the lower circuit at 8 per cent. Meanwhile, non-software stocks moved sideways.

Himachal, Satyam, Zee, Infosys and Global Tele topped the volume chart accounting for 55 per cent of the total trading volume on the BSE.

Silverline, Sterlite, Sun Pharma, ABB, BPCL, Goldstone Tech, Cadila Healthcare, Peerless Shipping, Ram Info, Amex Info, Mirc Electronics, Mobile Tele, Classic Bio.

Losers: Between 12 per cent and 7.9 per cent
SSI, Onward Tech, Morepan, HCL Tech, Cybermate, Synergy Log-In, Supreme Tele, Asahi India.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 5 per cent
