Markets@15 Feb: Day's reportWipro, ITC, BSES, Rolta, Videocon International, McDowell and Sterlite hit upper circuit. NIIT and Infosys dip sharply.
Software stocks showed a mixed trend today. While Infosys and NIIT saw huge selling pressure pushing the Sensex down, Wipro, Satyam Computer and Rolta saw strong buying. Among the pivotals, SBI, MTNL, L&T, ACC, BHEL and Reliance remained weak. ITC was the only pivotal which hit the upper circuit. HLL closed marginally higher. The Sensex opened at 5797.31 points and touched a peak of 5941.88 points. The low for the day was 5774.32 points. Sensex closed at 5803.19 points. The Nifty also showed a high of 1744.50 points and its low was 1694.45 points. Nifty closed at 1702.55 points, a drop of 2.47 per cent. Stocks up by more than 5 per cent
