Market@April 25: Day's report

During the first half the market remained extremely weak as nearly 95 per cent software stocks hit the lower circuit. The impact of the negative sentiment was also felt by non-software stocks and till 2 pm the sentiment was extremely bearish.

However, huge investment buying during the last two hours of the day helped the sensex to show a positive close after a period of seven days. From the low, it recovered by 268 points. Stocks like Zee Tele and Sterlite hit the upper circuit from their lower circuit levels in the morning.

Reliance, Zee Tele, Satyam Comp, Infosys, and Silverline topped the volume charts accounting for 59 per cent of the total volume on BSE.

Sensex gains 23 points at 4534, Nifty down 20 points at 1368.

Stocks up over 5 per cent
MTNL, BSES, HCL Techno, M&M, Hughes Soft, Essel Packaging, TV 18, Agro Dutch, Vision Techno, Onward Techno, JB Chemicals and Core Health.

Stocks down over 5 per cent
