Daewoo offers 2-year warranty scheme for all carsKorean automobile giant Daewoo Motor Corporation today unleashed a service war on the Indian turf announcing a two-year warranty on all its vehicles being sold in India. This comes close on the heels of a similar initiative which was announced yesterday by country cousins and arch rivals Hyundai Motors. DMIL managing director Shiv Gopal Awasthi said the two-year service warranty would be available on all cars being sold in the country. ''Even the previously sold cars would be covered under the scheme and there is no last date for the initiative. ''This reflects the confidence we have in our vehicles and the quality service we intend to provide to our consumers. Beginning today, all Daewoo cars in the market will be offered with a warranty of 24 months without any specified number of kilometers.'' Prior to this, DMIL had announced free service camps for all its customrs and also rationalised spare parts prices in a bid to improve service standards for its vehicles. ''This is a continuous exercise and we would be planning many more such initiatives in the future.'' For the existing customers whose cars are under the warranty umbrella, this scheme will extend to the second year again without any restriction on mileage from the date of delivery. The terms and conditions laid down in the original warranty will remain unchanged. Awasthi said: ''Our warranty scheme is aimed at giving the best value for money so closely associated with our products -- the Matiz, Cielo and Nexia -- and was originally part of the Daewoo anniversary celebrations plan. We do not believe in attaching ifs and buts in our customer relation exercise and instead give customer his deserved place in the entire process of the deal. Exports were another attribute for the launch of this new scheme,'' Awasthi said. DMIL has so far sold close to 14,000 Matiz cars and over 45,000 Cielos till date. Matiz was launched in October last year in a single variant with three additional variants launched in April this year. When asked if this initiative was in response to a similar exercise announced by Hyundai, Awasthi replied in the negative. ''We have been thinking on these lines for quite some time. In fact, we had already collected data on warranty utilisation from all dealers over vehicles and number of compliants reported. Based on these figures, we have decided to announce this scheme.''
