Bajaj Auto H1 net up to Rs 2.48 billion

Bajaj Auto Limited has posted a net profit of Rs 2.48 billion during the first-half ended September 30, 1999 registering an increase by Rs 54.8 million as against Rs 2.43 billion recorded in the corresponding period a year ago.

The company has said that after considering tax refund and expenses for earlier years, the net profit amount was Rs 2.69 billion as against Rs 2.41 billion a year ago.

Production during the first-half of financial year 1999-2000 was 665,647 two- and three-wheelers as against 672,575 two- and three-wheelers during the first half of 1998-99.

Volume of sales stood at 631,329 two- and three-wheeelers as against 683,573 two- and three-wheelers during the first half of 1998-99.

Total sales and other income during the first half of this year was Rs 18.85 billion as against Rs 18.20 billion. After providing for a depreciation of Rs 700.3 million (Rs 640.1 million) and taxation of Rs 1.05 billion (Rs 1.03 billion), the profit after tax during the period was Rs 2.48 billion as against Rs 2.43 billion during the corresponding period in 1998-99.
