Bull book profit, Nifty slides 21 points to 1145.85Share prices fell further on profit booking by bull operators on the National Stock Exchange today. Market opened on a positive note and share prices rallied initially on good good buying support from foreign institutional investors, but reversed later on profit-booking by operators at higher levels and closed with moderate losses. Mirroring the subdued trend, the S&P CNX Nifty opened higher at 1176.95 points, further rose to 1177 points, before closing at 1145.85 points, losing 21.05 points. The CNX Nifty Junior crashed by 44.95 points to 1990.35 points from 2035.30 points. The S&P CNX Defty eased by 16.65 points to 928.95 points. The S&P CNX 500 index declined by 15.41 points to 781.83 points and CNX Midcap 200 moved down by 15.60 points to 674.65 points. The total turnover, involving 86.74 million shares in 333,112 trades stood at Rs 28.36 billion and the debenture turnover was Rs 3.2 million. Today, 713 securities declined, 263 gained, 101 remained unchanged while 41 scrips hit their price bands today. The top S&P CNX Nifty losers were: MTNL which slid by 8 per cent to Rs 186.30 from Rs 202.50, Indian Rayon 7.96 per cent to Rs 94.80 (103), Tata Power 7.96 per cent to Rs 84.95 (92.30), Tisco 7.96 per cent to Rs 113.25 (123.05) and Arvind Mills 7.30 per cent to Rs 31.10 (33.55). The top gainers were: P&G which firmed up to Rs 965.50 from Rs 931, NIIT Rs 2036 (1975), ITC Rs 1095.25 (1068), Hindustan Lever Rs 2260 (2,227) and Glaxo Rs 730.50 (725). ITC registered the highest turnover of Rs 4.84 billion, followed by Satyam Computers Rs 4.75 billion, SBI Rs 3.8 billion, Pentafour Software Rs 2.9 billion, Reliance Rs 2.05 billion, Ranbaxy Rs 929.8 million, Zee Telefilms Rs 820.3 million, Digital Equipment Rs 730.1 million, L&T Rs 595.7 million, Tata Tea Rs 504.9 million, Silverline Rs 491.6 million, ACC Rs 465.1 million and Tisco Rs 450.1 million. The other actively traded counters were: HCL-HP Rs 338.8 million, Rolta Rs 303.7 million, MTNL Rs 294.2 million, Infosys Technologies Rs 287.4 million, NIIT Rs 282.2 million, BPL Rs 277.1 million, Telco Rs 221 million, Global Telesystems Rs 170.5 million, Hindustan Lever Rs 155.7 million, Sterlite Rs 123.3 million, Raymond Rs 106.7 million and Hindustan Petroleum 10.37 cr.
