Merc E-class is Euro-compliant, claims MBIL

Mercedes-Benz India Limited today announced that its E-class cars in India conform to Euro-II emission norms. They always were Euro-compliant since their launch in 1996, company officials said.

MBIL Managing Director Till Becker de Freitas said in a statement: ''Engineered for nature, the E-class fulfils the expectations of our customers for a greener and healthier environment. Preservation of environment and the protection of life are our basic responsibilities towards the individual, family and society.''

Mercedes-Benz, he said, will continue to accord high priority to set new standards in environmental compatibility.

The car, he said, not only keeps both fuel consumption and noxious emission values as low as possible, but provides optimal conditions for subsequent recycling of materials used.

''The E-class incorporates a whole series of innovative measures, which bear out increased ecological awareness. The exhaust system itself is characterised by reduced noise levels, which are already in compliance with legislation yet to be introduced.''

In India, the E-class is available in petrol (E230 and E200) and diesel (E250) versions.

Mercedes-Benz India is a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG. Till now, Mercedes-Benz India has an established network of exclusive Mercedes-Benz dealerships across India, comprising ten showrooms and 12 workshops.
