Govt suspends CMD of Neyveli Lignite Corp on graft chargeThe Union coal ministry has placed under suspension Neyveli Lignite Corporation chairman and managing director P V Bhoopathi, who is facing a Central Bureau of Investigation probe on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of his income. Earlier, the CBI had sought the permission of the Union government to proceed against Bhoopathi who was alleged to have amassed wealth to the tune of Rs 4.1 million. P K Banerjee, additional secretary in the Union coal ministry, would hold additional charge as NLC CMD, according to official sources. |
