T Thomas, ex chief HLL & Glaxo, to head Lafarge in IndiaT Thomas, former chairman of Hindustan Lever and Glaxo India, and previously director with Unilever in London, has been appointed as the chairman of Lafarge in India. Thomas Farrell, Lafarge's country manager, will be the chief executive officer of the Indian operations. The other board members are expected to be announced soon. While T Thomas has served as a member of the international advisory board of Lafarge in Paris, Farrell has worked for Lafarge in the USA, Canada and France, and led the negotiation for acquisition of Tata Steel's cement business. Lafarge's Indian operations comprise 1.1 million tonne clinker plant at Sonadih in Madhya Pradesh and 1.43 million tonne slag cement grinding plant at Jojobera in Bihar. UNI |
