Lok Sabha okays repeal of land ceiling law

The Lok Sabha has approved by voice vote a bill seeking to repeal the Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act of 1976 seeking to revive the stagnant housing activities in the country.

Members belonging to the Congress and other Opposition parties, who vehemently opposed the bill, staged a walkout before its passage yesterday. They said it was intended to help the rich and it was against the poor and the middle class.
