Rupee moves in a narrow range, steady Rs 43.36/37
The rupee moved in a thin range and ended unchanged from previous levels in a dull trading session at the interbank foreign exchange market today. Opening steady at Rs 43.36/37, the Indian unit firmed to Rs 43.38/39 in early trading on short-covering by some banks, who were short on the dollar. The rupee ended at Rs 43.36/37. Forwards tracked the spot rupee movement, ending unchanged. Monthly premia (in paise) were 17-18 for July, 36-38 for August, 56-58 for September, 75-77 for October, 95-97 for November and 113-116 for December. The six-month annualised premia ended at 5.31 per cent. Cash/spot closed at 1.00-1.25 paise. The rupee ended at Rs 68.55 to a pound sterling, Rs 44.90 to a euro and Rs 35.84 to a yen. The Reserve Bank of India maintained the reference rate at Rs 43.36 a dollar. UNI
