Moderate gains on speculative buying by FIs; Sensex up 47 points to 4159Equities gained moderately on speculative buying support from institutional investors at the Bombay Stock Exchange today. The 30-share BSE Sensex opened on a firm note at 4140.24 points, touched the day's high of 4183.16 points, low of 4136.12 points, before closing at 4158.67 points, showing a net gain of 46.90 points or 1.14 per cent over Friday's close of 4111.77 points. The broad-based national index too gained by 25.03 points to close at 1794.92 points as against the previous close of 1769.89 points. Dealers said that the market witnessed a steady trend and the movement was in the restricted range of 4140-4183 points. The foreign institutional investors made small purchases while the domestic financial institutions and local operators bought select shares today. Institutionalised deals were witnessed at Asian Paints, Century Textiles, Hindustan Lever, ICICI, Indian Rayon, NIIT, Punjab Tractors, Voltas and VXL Instruments. UNI
