FIIs exert selling pressure; Nifty slides a tad to 1177
Equities declined due to selling pressure from foreign institutional investors or FIIs and domestic operators at the National Stock Exchange today. Reflecting the trend, the S&P CNX Nifty fell by 4.30 points to end at 1177 points from 1181.30 points in the last session. CNX Nifty Junior declined by 10.55 points to 1922.75 points from 1933.30 points, while S&P CNX Defty eased 3.45 points to 941.35. The S&P CNX 500 index closed lower by 0.85 points at 798.50, while the CNX Midcap 200 fell by 1.85 points to 682.25. The total turnover involving 82.7 million shares in 287,499 trades was Rs 18.25 billion and the debentures traded were valued at Rs 2.93 million. Today, 446 securities gained, 519 declined, 72 remained unchanged while 40 securities hit their price bands today. UNI
