A-I's Dahran flight landing to be Kochi airport's first operationThe newly-opened Kochi International Airport at Nedumbasserry in Kerala has been spruced up to receive its first commercial flight, an Air-India Boeing-747 from Dahran in Saudi Arabia tomorrow. The flight is scheduled to land at 1100 hrs and its passengers will be given a rousing welcome by the Cochin International Airport Limited. The company had implemented the Rs 2.30 billion project with massive financial suppoort from the public, especially from non-resident Indians from Kerala. Meanwhile, the director-general of civil aviation has granted temporary licence to CIAL for the operation of the airport, the biggest in Kerala having a 3,400-metre long runway. DGCA H S Khola and civil aviation secretary P V Jayakrishnan and officials of the Airports Authority of India continued their inspection of the facilities available at the airport today. UNI |
