Nifty climbs by 6.5 points to 1324.25
Select equities recovered marginally at the National Stock Exchange on speculative buying by local operators, pushing up the S&P CNX Nifty index by 6.55 points today. Reflecting the trend, the Nifty opened at 1318.30 points, touched the day's high of 1331.75 points, a low of 1312.30 points and closed at 1324.25 points, showing a net gain of 6.55 points over the previous close of 1317.70 points. The S&P CNX-500 index rose by 7.37 points to 903.86 points from the previous finish of 896.49 points. Select software shares like Infosys Technology, Satyam Computers and Pentafour Software staged a rally while ACC, BHEL, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Hero Honda, Indian Hotels, TELCO and Zee Telefilms were in the limelight, dealers said. The S&P CNX Defty ended 5.95 points higher at 1061.35, against its previous closing figure of 1055.40 points. The CNX Nifty Junior also closed higher by 18.20 points at 2096.25 against the previous close of 2078.05 points. The CNX Midcap-200 rose by 4.90 points to 764.21 from the previous close of 759.31 points. UNI |
