Sensex slips further by 40 points to 4639.94Share prices declined further at the Bombay Stock Exchange on speculative selling pressure coupled with squaring up of trades by local operators on account of today being the last day of the current settlement.Mirroring the trend, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index opened at 4635.87 points, touched the day's high of 4658.36, fell below the 4600 mark to a low of 4593.69 points, and recovered to close at 4639.94, a drop of 39.98 from yesterday's close of 4679.92 points. The broad-based BSE-100 index also declined by 14.54 points to 1995.92 from yesterday's close of 2010.46 points. Dealers said market players were busy squaring up their positions mainly on account of weekly operators while foreign institutional investors stopped their aggressive buying, resulting in a moderate fall for the second consecutive day. Analysts at SVS Securities Limited, a city-based broking firm, however, termed it a technical correction and said the undertone remains bullish. The Infosys Technologies scrip crossed the Rs 5000 mark and closed higher by Rs 189 at Rs 5,110. Similarly, Satyam Computer shot up by Rs 98 to Rs 1,378. But another info-tech giant, NIIT Limited, dropped significantly by Rs 179 to Rs 2,141. Among others, ACC rose by Rs 3.30 to Rs 232.30, BHEL by Rs 6.45 to Rs 329.25, Colgate Rs 2.30 (Rs 278), Dr Reddy's Laboratories Rs 14 (Rs 894), Hero Honda Rs 42 (Rs 1,178), Indian Hotels Rs 11 (Rs 397), Pentafour Software Rs 19 (Rs 1,206), Ranbaxy Rs 21 (Rs 774), State Bank of India Rs 2.75 (Rs 274.75), TELCO Rs 6.60 (Rs 288) and TISCO by Re 1 to Rs 159. The losers included Bajaj Auto, which dropped by Rs 7.50 to Rs 314, BSES (Rs 6.85 to Rs 161.25), Cadbury (Rs 35 to Rs 765), Hindustan Lever (Rs 76 to Rs 2,394), Hindalco (Rs 4 to Rs 891), ITC (Rs 25.10 to Rs 1,025), Nestle (Rs 3 to Rs 552) and Reliance Industries (Rs 6.55 to Rs 185.70). The BSE-200 and Dollex indices too recorded drops of 3.10 and 1.11 points at 456.90 and 175.88 points. They had closed yesterday at 460.00 and 176.99 points, respectively. UNI
