Equities suffer a moderate setback; Nifty down 17 points to 1318
Equities suffered a moderate setback at the National Stock Exchange following profit sales by domestic institutional investors and local operators today. The S&P CNX-Nifty index opened at 1335.55 points, touched a new all-time-high of 1367.95 points in the intra-day trading, fell to the day's low of 1310.45 points, before closing at 1317.70 points, 17.45 points or 1.30 per cent down from the previous close of 1335.15 points. Dealers said that the discouraging results by steel giant Tisco affected market sentiment badly on the country's largest bourse.
