Reliance, IPCL, NIIT gain; Nifty up four points to 973.45
Pivotals lost initial gains on selling pressure, but managed to finish higher compared to the previous levels at the National Stock Exchange today. The S&P CNX Nifty index rose by 4.40 points to 973.45 from the previous level of 969.05. The CNX Nifty Junior increased by 4.40 points to 1786.75. The S&P CNX Defty improved by four points to 794.80. The S&P CNX 500 index gained 1.59 points to 683.01 and CNX Midcap 200 index moved up by 1.19 points to 620.89. The total turnover on the NSE was Rs 26.19 billion from Rs 112.9 million traded shares. A total of 152 securities hit their price bands today. Today, 612 shares advanced, 484 declined and 91 were unchanged. The top gainers were Reliance Capital, IPCL, NIIT, Reliance and Indian Rayon. Prominent among those that shed value were M & M, Tata Power, Ranbaxy, Gujarat Ambuja and Cochin Refineries. Pentafour Software topped the turnover list with Rs 5.26 billion followed by Satyam Computers (Rs 2.56 billion) and Silverline (Rs 1.95 billion). Others that recorded a high turnover were ITC, Reliance, HCL-HP, Tata Tea, Rolta, L&T, SBI New, ACC, Telco and Zee Telefilms. The total traded value on the depository mode was Rs 155.1 million. UNI
