Equities stage late recovery; Nifty up 8 points, 924.75
After a weak start, equities recovered towards the fag end of trading at the National Stock Exchange following speculative buying support from operators on the last day of weekly settlement today. Reflecting the mixed trend, the SP CNX Nifty index opened at 914.70 points, touched the day's high of 924.75 points, fell to the day's low of 907.45 points before closing at 924.75 points, showing a net gain of 8.25 points as against the previous close of 916.50 points. The CNX Nifty Junior rose smartly by 21.50 points to 1648.85 points from the previous close of 1627.35 points. The S&P CNX Defty gained by seven points to 754.95 points as against the previous close of 747.95 points. The S&P CNX-500 and cnx midcap indiced closed higher by 3.76 and 3.35 points to 642.20 and 570.13 points as against the previous close of 638.44 and 566.78 points respectively. Total turnover on the NSE reported during the day was stood at Rs 20.55 billion came from a trading of 81.16 million shares in 267,293 trades. The exchange witnessed advancement of 483 securities, decline of 591 while 91 remained unchanged, and 81 securities hit their price bands. UNI
