FII buying sustains rally; Nifty closes at all-time high of 1422.60
Share prices continued to rally on brisk buying support by foreign institutional investors and bull operators pushing up the S&P CNX Nifty to an all-time high of 1435.50 at the National Stock Exchange today. The market opened on a buoyant note, moved in a narrow range and closed higher in a hectic trading session at the NSE. Reflecting the upbeat sentiment, the S&P CNX Nifty opened at 1417.80 (day's low also), surged to the historic high of 1435.50 before closing at 1422.60, gaining 5.10 points or 0.35 per cent over the previous closing level of 1417.50. The CNX Nifty Junior also shot up by 5.10 points to 2550.85 from the last close of 2545.75. The S&P CNX Defty rose by 4.20 points to 1133.45. The S&P CNX-500, however, fell by 1.50 points to 1005.95, while the CNX Midcap-200 eased by 7.35 points to 915.30. The NSE witnssed a total turnover of Rs 23.39 billion, involving 109.8 million shares. The debentures traded were valued at Rs 4.70 million. A total of 351 shares advanced, 810 declined, 43 remained unchanged while 139 securities hit their price bands today. UNI ALSO SEE A day of rumours savages stock markets
