Speculative deals buoy sentiment; Nifty up 22 points to 1370
Share prices exhibited an impressive rally on speculative buying support from bull operators and domestic institutions, pushing the S&P CNX Nifty index to an all-time high of 1369.70 at the National Stock Exchange today. Reflecting the uptrend, the S&P CNX Nifty opened a bit higher at 1347.75, continued its mild rally throughout day, touching an all- time intra-day high of 1375.95 before closing at 1369.70, a record high gaining 22.40 points or 1.66 per cent over 1347.30 points of the previous close. The CNX Nifty Junior also shot up by 55.10 points to 2530.65 from 2475.55, while the S&P CNX Defty rose by 18.85 points to 1090.85 from 1072. The S&P CNX-500 and CNX Midcap-200 indices appreciated by 14.70 and 20.85 points to 983.30 and 909.25 respectively. The NSE witnessed a turnover of Rs 24.89 billion involving 127.80 million shares in 412,924 trades. Debentures traded were valued at Rs 10.02 million today. In all, 788 shares advanced, 368 declined,e 41 remained unchanged while 175 securities hit their price bands today. UNI
