Hyundai to make small car Verna in IndiaSouth Korea's Hyundai Motor Company said on Monday it would produce a small passenger car called the Verna in India and begin selling them in October. Hyundai has been producing another small car, the Santro, in India since October 1998 and had sold about 35,000 units as at the end of July, a Hyundai official said. Hyundai aims to sell 3,000 Vernas by the end of 1999 and another 12,000 in 2000, the official said. India-based production lines for the Santro have an annual capacity of 80,000 units, while lines for the Verna would have a 40,000-unit capacity, he said. UNI/Reuters
