Upbeat sentiment propels Nifty up 41 points to 1326.40

An upbeat sentiment was witnessed on the National Stock Exchange as pivotals registered significant gains today.

Mirroring the uptrend, the S&P CNX Nifty index opened at 1285.90 (day's low, rose to the day's high of 1329.30 and ended at 1326.40, showing a net gain of 41.35 points or 3.21 per cent from the previous close of 1285.05.

The S&P CNX Nifty Junior moved up by 88.45 points to end at 2291.60 from the previous close of 2203.15. The S&P CNX Defty Index rose by 32.90 points to 1059.65.

The S&P CNX 500 and CNX Midcap 200 indices ended 25.95 and 26.70 points higher at 918.15 and 791.70 respectively.

The total turnover on the NSE was Rs 30.38 billion from trading in 99.7 million shares. The debentures traded were valued at Rs 7.03 million. Today, 840 securities advanced, 210 declined, 62 remained unchanged while 183 hit their price bands.
