Weak spell shaves 21 points off Nifty, 1289.60
A weak spell was observed on selling pressure from the domestic operators at the National Stock Exchange today. Mirroring the downtrend, the S&P CNX Nifty Index opened at 1309.85, rose to the day's high of 1310.80, fell to the day's low of 1282.85 and ended at 1289.60, showing a net loss of 20.55 points or 1.56 points from the previous close of 1310.15. The S&P CNX Nifty Junior moved down by 10.40 points to 2217.25 from the previous close of 2227.65. The S&P CNX Defty Index also eased by 16.70 points to 1031.20. The S&P CNX 500 and CNX Midcap 200 indices ended 16.20 and 13.65 points at 888.85 and 764.45 respectively. The total turnover on the NSE was Rs 23.72 billion from trading in 80.7 million shares. The debentures traded were valued stood at Rs 6.86 million. A total of 299 securities advanced, 763 declined and 71 remained unchanged, while 115 hit their price bands today. UNI |
